Technical Details for Digital Downloads

Upon receipt of payment, you will immediately receive a link to the PDF file, which you can use to download the file to your digital device (phone, pad, tablet, or computer). The link is provided in the Order Details section on the checkout page, and in your order confirmation email in the Download column of the Downloads section.

In most cases, clicking on the link will start the download process. Depending on how your device and browser are set up, the file may open in a browser tab, or you may be given the choice to open the file in your browser or save it to a location on your device, or to open it in Adobe Reader. We suggest saving the file to a location that you will remember so that you can find it easily.

If you click on the link and it seems like nothing happens, check to see if the file opened in a separate tab in your browser. If it did, use the Share function to download the file to your device.

The file can be viewed with any PDF viewer app, such as Adobe Acrobat. On some devices it may be readable in the Kindle app, however the links may not be active and this is not a reliable app for viewing.

Here are some helpful tips to make the download process a smooth one:

  • Use a consistent internet connection. Be patient; larger files such as Dr. Basko’s dog cookbook may take time to finish downloading.
  • Don’t stream movies and music while downloading.

Your download link is good for seven days, and allows you up to three downloads to devices you own (such as your desktop, your iPad, and your iPhone). Once you have downloaded the PDF file, it is yours and you can open it as many times as you like. We ask that you please do not share it with friends.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I download this file?

There are several ways to download the PDF:

  • You can immediately download the PDF file via the link provided on the Order Details section of the checkout page.
  • Your order confirmation email contains the link in the Downloads column of the Downloads section.
  • If you don’t have access to either the confirmation email or the checkout page, you can access purchase details on your account on our site. Look for the My Account menu at the top of our website, click on the Downloads tab, and look for the link in the Downloads column. (Click here to access Your Account.)

In most cases, clicking the link will download the file to your device. In some cases it will open the file in your browser; if this happens, use the Share function to save it to your device. If you click on the file and it automatically downloads but you can’t find it, check the Downloads folder on your computer.

Once you have saved the file to a PDF viewer app, it will be stored in that app’s library, easy for you to access.

2. OK I’ve downloaded the file – now what?

Simply double-click on the file to open it in your PDF reader (such as Adobe Reader or Acrobat, or Books).

3. How can I view the PDF?

The file is in Adobe PDF format, which means that you can view it on any device that reads PDF files using apps such as Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat software, or the Preview application (Mac desktops only). Results using the Kindle App are unpredictable.

Most computers and devices already include Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat installed on the system, but if you don’t yet have either program installed, you can download Adobe Reader for free, here: Get Adobe Reader

Tip: For Dr. Basko’s recipes, we suggest you print out specific pages and keep those handy. You won’t have to worry about getting food on the pages – you can just reprint them again later!

4. How do I download and view this PDF file on my iPad?

On your iPad, open the Order Receipt we emailed you and click on the download link for the book. The PDF file will open as a tab within your browser. You should save it to a PDF viewer app. To save it, tap the Share icon (looks like a box with an arrow pointing upwards) and select a PDF viewer app, such as Books or Adobe Reader. The PDF file is viewable in Kindle, but results are unpredictable and document links may not be active. Once you have saved the file to a PDF viewer app, it will be stored in that app’s library, easy for you to access.

5. I deleted my confirmation email and I deleted the PDF. What do I do now?

If you don’t have access to either the confirmation email or your checkout page, you can access your purchase history through your account on our site. Look for the My Account menu at the top of our website and click on the Downloads tab and you will see the link in the Downloads column. (Click here to access Your Account.) You have three downloads available.

6. I am getting a message that I have reached my download limit, but I can’t find the PDF. Help!

You have three downloads, and seven days to download. If either of these limits have been exceeded, please contact us.

7. I forgot to download my PDF and now I am getting a message that the download link has expired. Help!

You have seven days to download. If the limit has expired, please contact us.

8. Can I share this with my mom? My best friend? My uninformed neighbor?

We love your enthusiasm for sharing Dr. Basko’s knowledge, and it is our mission to get this information out to everyone! However, each digital download is licensed to just one person – YOU. Please respect the hard work of Dr. Basko, and others who spent time and effort to bring you this information. We know it’s tempting to share, but if you know someone who could really benefit, please gift them with another paid copy of the download, or direct them to our Store page so that they may purchase their own copy.

NOTE: The single most frequent problem that occurs is someone repeatedly clicking on the download link, using up the three downloads, and then not knowing where the file is. If you did not see evidence of the file downloading to your device, the most likely explanation is that the file opened in a tab in your browser – so check any open tabs to see if it is there, and if you find it then use the Share icon to save it to your device.
